The Institute of Studies and Development of Galicia (IDEGA) is a center of the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), dedicated to basic and applied research of Social and Legal Sciences, with special focus on the reality of socio-economic and territorial de Galicia.
Since its inception in 1976, the IDEGA promotes projects multidisciplinary with the aim of connecting the academic rigour with the resolution of real challenges, as the aging demographic, the imbalances territorial, the increase in inequality, socio-economic, the urban planning of the region and the transformation of the digital and ecological.
The institute cooperates closely with public administrations, companies and institutions of civil society, proveendo technical advice. Among its objectives include the generation and development of methodologies in the fields of Economics, Business, Geography, Sociology, Demography, Political Science, Communication Sciences, Public Law, Economy Agreria and Anthropology; the dissemination of knowledge through publications, conferences and scientific popularization; the disposal of formations and activities research for the youth and the promotion of scientific intercourse with other centers, national and international.
Throughout his career, the IDEGA became a reference point for English research socieconómica and territorial, with great ability to focus in the design of policies and development strategies.
