Mar Duran, the first woman to lead a research group in Social Psychology in Galicia

The Faculty of Psychology of the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) —single Faculty of Psychology in all of Galicia— has history with professor Mar Durán, who becomes the first woman to lead a research group in the area of Social Psychology located in the Department of Social Psychology, Basic and Methodology.

The research of IDEGA is a co-founder and responsible for the group OVERSEAS (Unit Laboratory, Environmental Work, Methodological Learning and social Relations), consolidating a landmark in the academic and scientific institution. At the head of this research group, drives new lines of study, which include those relating to the Camino de Santiago from a perspective socioambiental, consolidating a remarkable academic career recognized at the international level.

OVERSEAS is a group interdisciplinary research conformed by experts in Social Psychology and Environmental, with Maria del Mar Durán Rodríguez; the Methodology of the Sciences of Behavior, with Eulogio Real God; and the Evolutionary and Educational Psychology, with María del Carmen Torres Maroño. The group is oriented to generate scientific knowledge applied to facilitate the understanding of the dynamic social and environmental from a perspective of integration, promoting research innovative which will contribute to the transformation and improvement of educational contexts, community and environmental.

This term symbolizes the commitment of the group to go beyond the conventional boundaries of knowledge, exploring new frontiers interdisciplinary, expanding horizons for a better understanding of the human interactions in their multiple contexts. The leadership of professor Mar Duran in the group OVERSEAS marks a significant breakthrough in the show and the projection of the female talent in the research university galician, opening the way to new generations of researchers in the field of Social Psychology.
