Yesterday, January 21, a meeting took place of the project EPSULA in the Faculty of Geography and History at the University of Santiago de Compostela.
At the opening of the meeting was attended by Pilar Bermejo, vice-rector for Scientific Policy, Ruben Lois (director of IDEGA and the research group BEFORE) and Athena Alchazidu, the Masaryk University of Brno (Czech Republic), director of the research group, who leads the project.
The meeting had a hybrid character (face-to-face and virtual). Face-to-face, in addition to representatives of the Czech Republic and of the USC, attended by the professors of the University of Tampere (Finland). So the virtual participated in several universities in El Salvador and Ecuador, which are part of the consortium: Catholic University of El Salvador Universidad Don Bosco (El Salvador) and the University of Azuay and the Universidad politécnica Salesiana (Ecuador).
The project EPSULA seeks to address the social exclusion of vulnerable communities in rural and remote areas of Ecuador and El Salvador through the creation of an environment of online education. One of the objectives of the project is to develop a multilingual portal that will serve as a collection of material-tangible and intangible cultural heritage in danger of disappearing. The educational modules and training to promote sustainable tourism.
The partners in the Latin america region, compile, recorded, transcribed and translated materials of vulnerable indigenous communities, while the european partners, among them that of the USC) to develop the portal and of the educational modules. The local partners to test these resources in their institutions, and existing programs, as well as in workshops and training courses. In addition, the role of the USC is also the coordination of a Work Package in the quality control of the project.
