Experts from the USC advocate a model of coastal management that involves local communities

The chairs of Geography and Administrative Law Rubén C. Lois González and Luis Míguez Male, respectively, both members of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Studies and Development of Galicia (IDEGA), come to formulate a set of proposals to advance a model of English for the regulation of the coastal adapted to the reality of the atlantic and to the multiple uses that come together on the coast, where the administrations nearby and the local communities are involved.

The reflection occurs at a key moment after the transfer to the Xunta de Galicia of competence in the field of regulation and management of the coast and in the context of the preparation of legislative innovations. “Paul, along with the Basque Country, is leading the new formulations in this matter. The case of our community is very complicated, we need to put in order a room profitable economically but that respects the fishing and seafood”, argues Rubén C. Lois.

Last week, the two researchers participated in the european forum Luoghi (In)definiti organized by the University of Venice, where he contributed ideas about how to ensure the rights of management of communal, that in the case of Galicia include the fishing activities. To Rubén C. Lois, the Law of the Back of 1988 does not respond to the current needs of Galicia, so that “now is when you should collaborate, so interdisciplinary, in the legal development of the new standard, with the function of skills and that delimite the areas of intervention”.

At the scientific meeting of international teachers of USC transmitted to the results of several of his works and were asked to maintain their participation in a network of european researchers. The University of Venice is to encourage working groups and new experiences teaching graduate where members of the IDEGA are invited to be part of.
