XIX Coloquio Ibérico de Geography

The celebration of the Colloquia Iberian Geography arrives at itsXIX edition after that this initiative is materializase at the University of Salamanca in 1979 and had continuity in Lisbon in 1980. The role of geographers as relevant as teachers Ángel Cable, of the University of Salamanca, and Orlando Ribeiro, University of Lisbon, it was critical to put into operation these Colloquia, that by fortune if kept in time. The community geographical ibérica collaborated in difficult circumstances since the celebration of the International Congress of Geography in Lisbon in 1948. At present, this collaboration is fully institutional between the Spanish Association of Geography (AGE) and the Associaçãor Portuguesa de Geógrafos (APG), which promote the regular holding of these Symposia.

The recollection of the story and the claim of a community ibérica of people estudosas of Geography have a huge sense, since the internationalization university originated under the distrust of the dictatorial regimes of Spain and Portugal. Despite this, his pervivencia plasmouse in multiple collaborations during the period of the claim of democracy in both nations in the 1970s. The incorporation of the Iberian Peninsula to the European Communities, there are now 40 years old, has created a framework of stable relationships, intense and fruitful among the community geographical ibérica, enhanced by the collaboration in projects INTERREG or by the development of mobility programs university. At present, colleagues Portuguese are invited frequently to participate in the courts of theses and other academic acts of the Spanish universities, and geographers/the Spanish/the partake in theses and committees of selection of teachers in Portugal. For these reasons, to celebrate the success of the cooperation chose this motto to the NINETEENTH Colloquium Iberian Geography, which will take place in Lugo in 2026 (Campus de Lugo, University of Santiago de Compostela).

The structure of the Colloquium is intended to be similar to that of the two previous editions immediate in Salamanca 2022 and Coimbra 2024. For this, we have established a series of thematic axes that include the greater part of the issues dealt with by Geography current in Spain and Portugal. It also provides for the holding of conferences plenary opening and closing, several outputs of the field and a round table, whose theme will be set by the Organizing Committee, the AGE and the APG.

For this NINETEENTH edition of the Colloquium Iberian Geography was decided to establish eight thematic axes, which encadrarán the proposals of the communication received. The first two have an environmental content, closest to the interests of the physical Geography. of The rural transformation and the problems of access to housing define the axes 3 and 4. In the shaft 5 is an approximation broad that it encompasses the urbanization and urban systems, economic Geography and territorial governance. The shaft 6 is devoted to the sightseeing trip at the turistificación and to its consequences, and the 7 to the spaces of heritage, in particular to the character cross-border. Finally, a Colloquium Iberian must address the issues related to the teaching of Geography from a perspective critical comparative.
