Days ‘Adam Smith and the us. The wealth of nations the wealth of the regions’

The University of Santiago de Compostela will host the conference “Adam Smith and the us. The wealth of nations the wealth of regions”, an initiative that celebrates the 250th anniversary of the publication of The wealth of nations, and that proposes a reflection current on the thinking of Adam Smith and his term in debates about economic contemporaries.

The program will bring together experts from different universities and research centres in Spain and Portugal to analyze issues such as free trade, economic development, european integration and the role of regions in global context. The sessions converteranse in a space of dialogue academic and interdisciplinary around the transformations in the economic and territorial.

The IDEGA will participate actively in the conference, contributing their experience and knowledge in the field of territorial development, regional economy and the studies on Paul. The presence of the Institute strengthens the scientific character of the meeting and helps to connect the legacy of thought the classic with the economic reality and social current.

The conference will be held on days 5 and 6 in the Auditorium of the Faculty of Geography and History, specifically to celebrate 250 years of the publication of The wealth of nations and on Monday 9 in the Hall of Degrees of Economic and Business Sciences of the USC, with free entry, to celebrate the 40 years of the entry of Galicia and the North of Portugal in the European Union.

All sessions are open to both the university community as to the general public interested in the economic challenges the present and in the future of the euro–region Galicia-North of Portugal.
